Mon Guerlain Eau de Parfum by the house of Guerlain is a warm and sweet gourmand fragrance.
This was my first full size perfume bottle! Mostly because it’s only available in full bottle size, LOL! I wish a travel spray was available, but the bottle is beautiful not not terribly expensive for a luxury fragrance. I made a YouTube video on this topic a little while ago:
Somehow, I was able to get past Angelina Jolie being the face of this. That choice doesn’t seem to fit the fragrance at all. And I find it a pretty strange choice by the brand. We will get into that a bit later in this post where I give you Guerlain’s own description of the fragrance.
Fragrance Notes (as shown on Fragrantica.com):
Top: Vanilla, Lavendar, Coumarin
Middle: Iris, Sandalwood, Jasmine Sambac, Bergamot
Bottom: Benzoin, Licorice, Patchouli, Rose
Guerlain itself only lists the notes of Lavendar, Jasmine, Sandalwood, and Vanilla and describes the fragrance as a “Fresh Oriental”.
What is smells like: this is what I imagine a warm country afternoon in France smells like. Walking down a dirt path in the late afternoon. It’s warm but not too hot. The air has a light crispness because summer is transitioning into fall. The vanilla note is strong for sure, while the Lavendar is only softly in the background. I only smell the notes as listed by Guerlain, and I’m not sure how all of the additional notes listed by Fragrantica came to be listed on their site. I found this fragrance very similar to Amethyst by Elizabeth and James, but softer and warmer.
Does it Last? For me this one lasts and lasts. I smell it lingering on my clothes and in my car for days.
Bonus Points: My husband really likes this one.
Where to find it: I purchased mine through Sephora.com, sadly this is an online only product for Sephora. I received two samples with orders and that’s how I discovered it. Rated 4.4 out of 5 stars on Sephora out of 292 reviews. The bottles start at $69 for 1 oz which is pretty reasonable among higher end perfumes. I recommend purchasing during a Sephora sale if you are a regular customer and receive the VIB or Rouge discounts at sale time.
Guerlain’s own interpretation of the fragrance. Guerlain gives the following description on their website:
Mon Guerlain, the House’s new fragrance, is a tribute to today’s femininity – a strong, free and sensual femininity, as inspired by Angelina Jolie.
My invisible tattoo, my fragrance, Mon Guerlain.
The fresh oriental fragrance enhances exceptional raw materials: Carla Lavender from Provence, Sambac Jasmine from India, Album Sandalwood from Australia and Vanilla Tahitensis from Papua New Guinea. Mon Guerlain expresses the quintessence of a story replete with experiences, nourished by success, expertise and generosity, all infused with the same passion since 1828 by the Guerlain perfumer.
Your fragrance Mon Guerlain in its “quadrilobe” bottle : created in 1908, the bottle established itself as one of Guerlain’s iconic bottles. Simple and graphic, it echoes an alchemist’s bottle and owes its name to its stopper, which is crafted from one piece to obtain a shape resembling four lobes. A century later, beautifully enhanced by a luxurious glass weight and a golden adornment, this bottle offers a contrast between strong taut lines and sensual curves, expressing contemporary femininity.
