Bobbi Brown Eyeshadow Singles Swatch and Review

My Bobbi Brown single eyeshadow collection
Bobbi Brown single eyeshadows depotted: Ballet Pink Sparkle, Silvermoon Sparkle, Cement Sparkle, Velvet Plum, Stone, Burnt Sugar, Beige, Sable

Bobbi Brown shadows are such dependable staples. Shade selection is virtually all classic neutrals, very wearable and work-appropriate for offices where colorful makeup wouldn’t be appreciated. Some of the shades pictured are no longer available, but I think they’re a good representation of what Bobbi Brown eyeshadows are like.

Given the price point of $28-$38, these definitely are a splurge. I think the sparkle formula is really unique. I think for some people, these will be worth the splurge, and for others they won’t.

My collection of Bobbi Brown single shadows when I first purchased them, before depotting.

Formula Description

Matte – I like the matte formula. Blends well, a bit on the drier side compared to other brands, but very nice. I think Bobbi Brown really gets the shade selection and specific undertones done very well.

Shimmer Wash – A satin formula. Both the Shimmer Wash and Metallic are a nice option when you want something that isn’t matte but isn’t super intense and attention grabbing.

Metallic – Higher shine than the shimmer wash, but more subdued and not as high-shine as what we see from other brands such as Colourpop, Sydney Grace, or Anastasia Beverly hills.

Sparkle – The sparkle finish is very special and unique. It’s very refined, not chunky glitter at all. It is quite sheer, and you can build it up a bit. Glitter glue (or at least an eyeshadow primer, unset) is recommended. The mattes and shimmers are smooth, not gritty, and blendable. (Update January 16, 2022 – This finish sadly appears to be discontinued. I’m on the lookout for a simlar type of shadow but haven’t found one yet.)

Luxe – I don’t have any in this formula yet. The brand calls this a metallic shimmer, and they look very creamy, almost like a cream to powder formula that has a higher shine more of a mirror finish. I’ll have to try these one day and let you guys know! They retail for $38 each.

Swatches – Bobbi Brown vs Other Brands

I’m organizing these alphabetically and will add images in the future as I am able to to more comparison swatches.

Beige (Shimmer Wash)

The shade Beige appears to be discontinued (as of January 16, 2022), but it’s a really special shade in my collection. I went through and swatched the most similar shades I could find in case you are looking for a dupe. The CoverGirl Country Woods 215 eye enhancers quad came the closest. The formula is certainly not as creamy and easy to use, but the color is extremely close. Bobbi Brown Champagne (swatched below) is still available on the Bobbi Brown website.

Cement (Sparkle)
