Backstage Warm Neutrals Eyeshadow Palette by Dior – Swatches, Review
This palette is not a new release, but it is somewhat new to my collection. Backstage Warm Neutrals has been around since mid-2018, so I’m incredibly late to this party! I swatched this at Sephora when I went to purchase the Major Dimension palette. I loved the way it swatched, so I brought it home with me. I wondered if it could be my ultimate daily wear-to-work neutral palette.
The Dior Backstage Warm Neutrals palette retails for $49 – link to this palette at Sephora. That’s $5.44 per shade. Or $6.13 if you don’t count the primer shade. So that’s pretty pricy for a palette. You can buy single shadows in that $5-$6 range that are very good quality (such as Sydney Grace).
Swatches – How does it compare to other neutral palettes?
This photo shows the Dior palette as the center row. I swatched it along with two of my favorite neutral palettes for comparison. Top row is Colourpop Off Melrose, and the bottom row is Tarte Tartelette In Bloom.
See my post on Colourpop Off Melrose for more on that palette. I really love and recommend the Off Melrose palette from Colourpop. It retails for $18 and can be purchased from Ulta or Colourpop’s own website. Link to Off Melrose at Ulta. Link to Off Melrose on Colourpop.com.
Here are the swatch photos closer up so you can see the details better. The Colourpop palette was the most pigmented and had the creamiest formula of the three. The Colourpop off Melrose also had a more saturated color story than the other two.
Review and Thoughts
I’ve used the Dior Backstage palette a few times, and my feelings on it are just meh. Pigmentation was pretty low – it took awhile to build up the shades. I wanted the shade Beige to be brighter and shinier. Pretty sure I’ll be reaching for Off Melrose more than the Backstage Warm Neutrals.
As usual, these swatches were shared on Instagram first, plus I shared a video swatch on Instagram which really shows the shimmers in action. Head on over to Instagram and follow me there if you haven’t already. You can also subscribe to this blog via email. Thanks for reading!
